Charity is the “Cornerstone of every Elk structure., the highest virtue of every Elk Creed.” So it is that within the Realm of Elkdom, Charity plays an important role in the lives of many people, young or old. In1988., our reigning South Coast District Deputy, Greg Koester, was Exalted Ruler. He suggested that the lodge conduct a Bingo game as the Emblem Ladies of #177 had been doing since July 1986. It wasn’t an easy task, but with perseverance, wisdom and courage they embarked on a newfound venture. Together with Emblem Sisters of #177 who provided the necessary equipment and training, the task began. Now, some sixteen years later, Oceanside Lodge #1561 is looked upon as having one of the most successful charity fund venues in the District. Since its inception our Lodge has donated upwards of $400,000 in donations to recipients BINGO CHAIRMEN..................................... TIME PERIOD
